Yep! Delayed!

Yep the boys were delayed for 2 hours this morning. They did not get along very well this morning, they really should have been at school. We all survived, and tomorrow is another day.

Interview with Ethan.

I interviewed Ethan and created a scrapbook page. You have already seen this photo posted on my blog, but I wanted to show you what I did with it. Here's the interview....

What makes you sad? When I get hurt
What scares you? Scary movies

What makes you laugh? Funny things people say
What do you like about yourself? My hair cut
What color makes you happy? green

If you could be an animal what would you be? Monkey, so I could swing
What’s your favorite vegetable? Carrots
What is your least favorite vegetable? Cauliflower

What is your favorite holiday? My birthday
If you could have any super power what would you ask for? Lazer Eyes

What would happen if there was no TV? No video games or movies

By the way... another winter storm is hitting us. Freezing rain and 3-6 inches of snow. The boys are getting out of school early today. I wonder about school tomorrow.

I'm Tired!

We had a great day in Waterloo, but everyone is tired. Ethan played 2 games today with an hour break between them. By the end of the second game, he could barely keep up with the puck. He slept most of the way home. The arena in Waterloo has a walking track, so Ben, Nadia and I walked while Ethan changed and warm-uped each time. We totaled about 3.5 miles. Ben and I are tired!

The weather was beautiful today! The Boys, including Dad, decided to play on the backyard rink.

It is always Dad vs. the boys. Boys usually win! I can't believe they wanted to spend more time on the ice. This family seems to live and breathe the sport. How early is to early to teach a child to skate. Andrew is starting Nadia now.....

I have to teach at DMACC tomorrow, I was suppose to teach last weekend, but it was postponed due to weather. I am not looking forward to it, but it much be done.

Have a great weekend.

A Warm-up!

We have a few days of reprieve from the snow and cold. Today was a balmy 25 degrees F (-4 C). Sunday is predicted to reach a high of 37 degrees (3 C)! This winter we have had 18.5 inches of snow, the average is 12.5 inches; and we have had 14 of the 22 days below average temperatures. Unfortunately, the snow and ice is scheduled to return Monday or Tuesday.

Tomorrow we head to Waterloo (about a 2 hour drive) for Ethan's Hockey. Hockey is almost over, and I think everyone is looking forward to a little break. Well, except Ben, he is always excited to play. He has 1 more tournament the second week of March, and then on to soccer.

I will leave you with a "snowy" scrapbook page.
Nadia loves the snow, she loves to wear her mittens and play with her little shovel.

Complete Break-Down

Yesterday, the Roland-Story Girls basketball team had a complete break-down . They lost to North Polk 49-65. They had over 20 turn-overs and really never looked like themselves. It was sad to see. Although, I am really glad to have a little break before track season starts.

Life has been a whirlwind around here lately. I really feel like I am just treading water .....
I did laundry today and actually washed, dried, folded and put it away in one day. That was quite an accomplishment. What will I accomplish tomorrow?

On to State!

The Roland-Story girls Basketball won the regional semi-finals tonight. It was a very exciting game. Monday we head to Vet's for the regional final. I have not been to Vet's since high school. I am really looking forward to it.

I teach the weekend coaching class at DMACC both Saturday and Sunday this week. Ben has a hockey tournament here in Ames. We have sent Nadia and Ethan to Grandma's. Ethan's fortune cookie read "excitement is in store for you this weekend" I really do hope they have a great time.
Busy, Busy..... That sums up life around here.

Delayed!

The snow just keeps falling. We received another round of snow during the night. School was delayed for 2 hours, so they have to head in around 10:20. Nadia is very happy to have someone home to play with her. I don't know the exact snow fall totals, but this is what the bird feeder looks like outside the kitchen window.

Another Snow Day!

Another snow day here, in Iowa. This time we received several inches of snow, no school for the boys and no DMACC for me. Wednesdays are usually my busiest day, so it was nice to have a relaxing day. In fact, we are all still wearing our PJs! Since the weather outside feels a little like Christmas, I wanted to share Christmas page with you.

Nadia and her Santa Hat. Andrew and Nadia were playing with the Camera. She is such a Daddy's Girl! That's another scrapbook page in the works!

Design Team

It is an icy day here in Iowa. I did not have to teach today because of the freezing rain. The boys still had school, so it has been a nice quiet day with Nadia. The Oskaloosa area also received over 12 inches of snow. Won't Mom and Dad be in for a rude awakening when they return from Jamaica.

I am excited to share with you a few scrapbook pages that I finished a couple weeks ago, but was not able to share until now. I was asked to be a guest designer for the month of February at Scrapaddict.com It is a scrapbook store in the Chicago area with a huge online community. I was sent a Kit and asked to complete at least 2 pages. I had lots of fun. I hope they ask me to do it again sometime.

Goalie Debut

Ben made his debut at Goalie on Saturday. At the mite level, they rotate who plays goal to give everyone an opportunity. He has been asking and asking to play. He played 2 games; let in a total of 7 goals; and made some really good saves. I was really nervous the whole game. He told us that it was harder than he expected, but fun and would do it again. Our friend Rich De Wilde would be so proud!

Just for your information.... Ben's team won the sportsmanship award at the Iowa Games. They choose the team who's players, coaches and fans display the best attitudes. The kids were very excited about winning 2 medals.
