Where did it go?

Where did the time go? This first week of May has just swept past us.
Spring semester at DMACC is over, this week I had papers to read, exams to correct and grades to assign. I finished all that late last week and have been turning my focus to scrapbooking. Saturday was National Scrapbook Day: I met with my friends at Ames Area Croppers. We had a fantastic time; I was very productive. I completed 9 pages total. Check out my gallery at Scrapaddict to see them. http://www.scrapaddict.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=2822

Ben's birthday was Saturday, We had a small celebration with more to come.
9 Years - Time still flying. He has decided not to get a hair cut. I bet he will change his mind when the heat of summer hits!

Where did Winter go? I don't know, but I am so glad that it's gone for now. My front garden is in full bloom. Daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths. I love spring flowers!

Where did my supplies go? I have lost a few scrapbook items..... It is actually driving me nuts! The kids and I have cleaned out the playroom and closet in case they wondered in there. NOPE! Really, Where did they go?

Where did the boy's Lego go? Lego has been disappearing as well. Another cleaning session, this time under the beds. Last night we saw Nadia drop a piece of lego down a hole in the floor. Oh No! The hole is now covered with tape. How long has she been doing that! Did she stash my stamp set down there? (Just kidding, the hole is not that big!) But it would be nice to know where they went!

Happy Spring!

Art Unveiled!

Went back to the art gallery to take a few photos of the famous art works....

Ben's pencil drawing titled "Birthday at the Rink" This drawing earned "Honorable Mention."

Ethan's crayon drawing titled "Flowers blooming - Birds Hatching" Ethan won 1st prize!

She's 2!

Nadia's Birthday was Yesterday; She is the big 2! We did very little celebrating. The boys taught her how to sing Happy Birthday and say "2" when someone asks her how old she is. We will have an official Birthday party in May when we celebrate Ben's and Grandpa's Birthday's.

She had her check-up today. The doctor said she was perfect, but I already knew that!
He gave her a book and she responded with "Tank-u doccor" He was terribly impressed.

Hockey pages

I have been working on some Hockey pages this weekend. Thought that I would share.

Tomorrow is a big day in our house! Nadia turns 2! More to come.

kindergarten photos

I now have Ethan's school album up to date. Here is his Kindergarten page. I have a second page of journal notes about Kindergarten, but Ethan does not want to complete it until he knows everything about Kindergarten. I guess I will finish that part the first week of June.

Artists in Residence

Ben and Ethan we asked to participate in an art competition at the Octagon. They had to create their interpretation of spring. ( I forgot my camera, so I can't share any photo tonight).

Ethan created a crayon drawing with a tree, flowers, birds and a very great sun.
Ben created a pencil drawing about his birthday party at the hockey rink (We have decided to rent the arena for his birthday party.) That's what spring means to him!

The opening of the show at the gallery was tonight. Ethan won first place in the Kindergarten division. He was very excited and even more excited to find out that his price was a free art class. I can't believe that I forgot my camera!

Ben won an honorable mention. It was obvious that he was very disappointed. We wonder if his subject matter was not quite spring enough. He was the only kid to use just pencil. We of course are very bias, but he did a great job as well.

We talked about entering a drawing into the state fair.

We really need to be conscious about encouraging more art activities.

I will share some photos later.

Hints of Spring

What a Fantastic Day!
Today was sunny and warm. We spent the day outside. Here are a few signs of spring that we witnessed today.

  • Ben had a soccer game. No rain or snow, what a blessing!
  • Ethan and Nadia played on the play structure at the soccer field.
  • We found 2 small white Crocus hiding under the leaves.
  • The tulips and daffodils are up about 2 -4 inches,
  • The rabbits have already started to nibble at them.
  • The boys discovered the fun of being outside
    • they rode scooters around the block
    • dug a hole in the garden
    • played basketball
    • climbed the pine tree in the backyard
      • They actually climbed higher than the shed.
    • Driveway Hockey ( of course)
  • Nadia slept most of the afternoon, so she missed the fun.
  • Brats on the grill for dinner
  • Dinner on the back patio ( it was a little chilly, but enjoyed by all)

I hope it's almost spring in your neck of the woods.
